How to become a member of Academy

Basel is the center of an agglomeration of 700.000 people in three nations. It is the domicile of many international companies and has to offer remarkable examples of modern architecture (picture: the fair ground tower «Messeturm» with offices and a hotel, Switzerland’s highest building)Basel with its 166.000 inhabitants is Switzerland‘s third largest city, situated in the North West of the country, on the banks of the river Rhine.

Basel offers an incredible range of cultural institutions including about 35 museums, theatres, galleries a.s.o.Surrounded by three mountain chains (Jura, Black Forest and Vosges), the region is attractive for excursions and hikes.After 1936 (Zürich), 1966 (Lausanne) and 1986 (Zürich/Greifensee), the global IOGT movement returns to Switzerland for another World Congress. During a summer week the Culture and Sport Center «Kuspo» of Münchenstein turns into a lively meeting point for hundreds of people from all generations and all parts of the world.

Not only the congress sessions of IOGT International and EGTYF take place, but also a wide range of activities such as seminars, workshops, excursions, sport events and cultural highlights like con-certs and other social evening arrange-ments.

Thanks to its position in the trinational border region Switzerland – Germany – France, Basel is easily accessible by train, plane and car.The Organizers have reserved accomodation of all comfort and price levels – ranging from group accomodation in sleeping bags up to the luxury hotel in the nearby city center.

IOGT Switzerland is looking forward to welcoming as many IOGT friends as possible from all over the world!

A week for all generations

Not only adults, but also youth and juniors (in their chaperon‘s company) can look forward to an exciting and varied programme including many interesting seminars and workshops.
